The Republican Central Committee of Cecil County has been informed by the Republican Party of Maryland that three members of the nine-member committee have been disqualified from service. Alan McCarthy, Joyce Bowlsbey, and Bill Coutz were disqualified from taking office for their violation of the bylaws of the Republican Party of Maryland.

It is the Central Committee’s duty to support the Party’s nominees in general elections. The failure of the disqualified members to do so strikes at the heart of the purpose of the Party and renders them unfit to serve.

While the actions of the disqualified individuals are a betrayal to voters in Cecil County, the vacancies they have created will not impede the Republican Central Committee of Cecil County from carrying out the important work that the committee performs on behalf of Republican voters. The remaining members of the newly elected committee are working to fill the vacancies created through the actions and misrepresentations of the disqualified candidates. The Republican Central Committee of Cecil County will continue to advance the principles of the Republican Party that the voters of the county elected them to lead on.
